Haven't seen that many episodes, but have read the Roald Dahl books that they come from and they are an excellent read.

Bid Dave - I remember that one. He had headphones listening to the plants scream as his neighbours were pruning the flowers. The bit at the end had him being carted off and the headphones on the floor with the screams coming out... Possibly.
Motley - I remember something similar about a lady getting sent to prison and she tried to escape by befriending the coffin maker who took the dead prisoners out and buried them outside the wire. When a bell chimed to signify a death, she made her way to the morgue and got in a coffin with the dead person and the coffin maker said he would come back later and dig her up to get her out. After the coffin was buried, she lit a match inside the coffin (fuck knows why) and the dead person was the coffin maker!!! SHIIIIITT!!!
Why do I remember this shit yet couldn't remember crap all at school!!?

Don't he wake up with the bloke who was suppose to dig him dead next to him

Did the hitchhiker take the driver's belt off without him realising?

You are getting mixed up, The hitchiker referred to on this thread is an episode of Tales of the Unexpected. One of the best ones in my opinion.

Remember one about some bloke that works out how to hear trees speak. The ending was a tree screaming when it was bit with an axe of something.

The Hitchhiker?
Had heard good things that it was an HBO show from the 80s but recently bought a Warner Bros dvd which had 10 of the best episodes from the various seasons and thought it was very poor.
There was one good episode by Paul Verhoeven who did Robocop and Total Recall where a film director was trying to scare his leading lady on the set to get a better performance out of her.
Apart from that it was very poor compared to tales from the Crypt or Darkside which were a few years later.
A good English horror show from the 90s was called Chiller and was on ITV, there was one which scared the shit out of me as a kid where a bloke was dressing up to scare his ex wife or someone out of his house but the twist is there was a real ghost. I think it was called The man who scared himself and was on YouTube last time I checked.

Thanks for the tip! Remembered it straight away. It seems Network have the rights to it, but haven't released anything yet.

Stranded... I found the opening credits on YouTube ... That even resembles Tales a bit. Looks like an early appearance from Michael Kitchen

Meant to say. I know I did, re blurring. I was sure Beryl Reid was in it. Then I realized I was thinking of 'Psychomania'. The one about the gang of bikers who make a pact with the devil and come back from the dead.

Mike. Think I vaguely remember the Orson Welles programme. Though I would have been very young. I'll have to see if it's available anywhere, legitimately or otherwise.
The reason I thought it might be the Tales from the Crypt film is because one of the other stories in it has the corpse of someone killed in a car crash turning up on his wife's doorstep and scaring the life out of her. Along with a story that's a reworking of TMP that includes Death riding a motorbike, so I thought maybe you'd blurred the two together.

I watched the little finger one a few years ago after I found out that was where Tarantino nicked the story from for his part in Four Rooms.

I can see where I got confused now .... The Orson Wells Great Mysteries series was created by Roald Dahl ... Looks like a forerunner of Tales ....

Stranded... I see there was a 1973 series with Orson Wells called Great Mysteries and there was an adaptation of Monkeys Paw .... It's a bit earlier than Tales of the Unexpected and would probably be what I remember ... I was much younger and it was very scary ! Looks like it was never repeated either.
